Biosecurity Officer – Permanent, full-time position
New England Weeds Authority offers an exciting career opportunity for people who wish to join our team of dedicated and talented staff, focussed on plant biosecurity and enhancement of the environment.
The Biosecurity Officer is responsible for undertaking field and other regulatory activities and support programs and to provide advisory services for the management of plant biosecurity within the Region, in accordance with local and regional strategic plans and State and National objectives. From time to time, you will be required to travel away from home to attend meetings, training, agricultural shows and conferences.

About you
The ideal applicant will have broad experience in biosecurity management (weed control, landholder education, inspection and compliance) and the ability to schedule workloads and prioritise work demands without close supervision. You will hold responsibility for a specific area (LCA), and be responsible for all activities and events that take place.
You will have a proven ability to work in a team at a senior level and problem solve, always keeping workplace safety at front of mind. The right person for this job has a 'can do' attitude, focused on delivering targeted outcomes for the community, customers and for NEWA’s member Councils.
You will be physically fit and enjoy working outdoors and you will likely have a background in a rural environment. We seek someone who takes pride in doing a great job and wants to contribute to ensuring that NEWA meets community, customer and member council expectations, with a love of the environment.
