The New England Tablelands County Council, trading as New England Weeds Authority, is a single purpose local government authority, established under Section 387 of the Local Government Act 1993, as the control authority for scheduled priority and invasive weeds in the Armidale Regional Council, Uralla Shire Council and Walcha Council areas.

The New England Weeds Authority has been serving the community since 1947. Our purpose is to administer the Biosecurity Act 2015 in relation to weeds and control scheduled priority and invasive weeds identified in the Northern Tablelands Regional Strategic Weed Management Plan 2017-2027, within the New England Region. 

Our website has been designed to provide detailed information about our Council and services that we provide.
